One reward, three rewards or one for every tier.

Two settings decide that, and both apply per sales channel: the selection mode and the automatic reward selection. Together they make six possibilities.

The three selection modes.

They apply to the whole shop, not per group. What they mean is explained by the settings page itself in three cards; here are the same rules with an example beside them.

Selection mode

The selection mode controls how many rewards a customer can receive in the cart – per group, per cart value tier, or in total.

Available modes

1One reward per group

The customer receives at most one reward from each configured group – the one with the highest reached threshold. With multiple groups several rewards can add up, but never more than one per group.

2One reward per cart value tier (per group)

Within a group the customer may pick one reward for each reached threshold. If three thresholds are reached in a group, three rewards are available.

3One reward across all groups

Exactly one reward is granted for the entire cart – regardless of how many groups are configured or how many thresholds are reached.

Further information

  • When the customer picks a different reward, it replaces the previous reward within the scope of the selection mode – inside the group, the cart value tier, or the entire cart.
Selection modeOne reward per group
  • One reward per group

At most one from each group, namely the one with the highest threshold reached. So with three groups, up to three rewards add up.

    Default

  • One per cart value tier

Inside one group the customer may pick a separate reward for every threshold reached. If three thresholds are reached in a group, three rewards are due there.

    The generous one

  • One in total

Exactly one reward for the entire cart, no matter how many groups exist and how many thresholds are reached.

    The frugal one

  • Switching, not collecting.

If the customer picks another reward, it replaces the previous one within the respective scope: in the group, in the cart value tier or in the whole cart. Nobody can collect two copies of the same reward.

The same cart, three modes.

An example with three groups and twelve rewards in total: with €495.95 in the cart, several thresholds are reached in every group. What the customer gets then depends on the mode alone.

Group Thresholds reached at €495.95 Per group Per tier One in total
Welcome: gifts & discounts no minimum and €50 1 2 1 for the whole cart
Loyalty rewards €100 and €250 1 2
Discount staircase €150 and €300 1 2
Together eight of twelve rewards unlocked 3 6 1

All columns follow the rules of the setting. The €600 tier of the discount staircase carries two rewards but is not reached at this value; because both share the threshold they later form one tier, and the customer takes one of them.

  • Selected

The reward is in the cart. The button turns green and names the state, the tile gets a border.

  • Switch

Another reward in the same scope is already chosen. One click swaps it, without the customer having to remove anything first.

  • Choose gift

Free, nothing chosen yet. For discounts the button reads "Save 5%" or "Save €3" instead, so by its value.

  • €4.05 more

The threshold is not reached. The button is grey, not clickable and names the remaining amount; the whole tile is greyed out.

Or the shop picks by itself.

The automatic reward selection takes the click off the customer. Three levels are available, the default is "off".

Automatic reward selection

The plugin can automatically add rewards to the cart as soon as a threshold is reached – or leave the entire selection to the customer.

Available modes

1Off (manual selection only)

Rewards are never added automatically. The customer makes the selection manually in the cart or offcanvas.

2Only the first reached reward

As soon as a threshold is reached, the matching reward is added once. Further thresholds are not serviced automatically after that – the customer can pick additional rewards manually if they want.

3All reached rewards

The automation reacts to every reached threshold. In "One reward per cart value tier" mode, a separate reward is added for each threshold. In "One reward per group" and "One reward across all groups" mode, the current reward is replaced with the better one as soon as a higher threshold is reached.

Further information

  • If multiple rewards are eligible, the plugin picks the first reward with the highest reached threshold.
  • As soon as the customer intervenes manually (picks a reward or removes an auto-added one), the automation pauses for that group – or for the entire cart in "One reward across all groups" mode.
  • Variant parent products that require a customer choice are never auto-added – the customer must pick the variant themselves.
Automatic reward selectionOff (manual selection only)
  • Off

Rewards are never added automatically. The customer makes the choice in the cart or in the offcanvas.

  • Only the first reached

As soon as a threshold is reached, the matching reward is added once. Further thresholds are not served automatically afterwards.

  • All reached

The automation reacts to every threshold reached. In the modes "per group" and "one in total" it replaces the previous reward with the better one as soon as a higher threshold is passed.

  • It holds back as soon as the customer steps in.

If they pick a reward themselves or remove an automatically added one, the automation pauses for that group, and for the whole cart in the mode "one in total". Once the cart empties, it starts over.

  • Never variants automatically.

Rewards where the customer would have to choose between variants are not added by the automation. Otherwise a size nobody picked would be in the cart.

When the automation does its work.

It runs in the collect phase of the cart, that is before Shopware enriches the product data and calculates prices. That is why an automatically added reward appears with image, name and tax rate right away, not only after a second pass. On every further pass the plugin also re-checks each reward in the cart: does it still exist, is it active, does the rule match, is the goods value enough in the current currency. Whatever no longer fits disappears, and the cart carries on without it.
