Welcome gift
Without a minimum order value: whoever reaches the cart may pick something.
Miriam sells loose-leaf tea. Whoever orders from her for the first time picks a tea caddy from €25 of goods or takes a 10% new customer discount. Returning customers see none of it, and nobody needs a voucher code: a rule recognises the first order.
One group, two rewards, one rule on the group. The rule "New customers" checks the quantity of completed orders and therefore applies to both rewards at once. Both carry the same threshold of €25, so the bar forms a single tier, and in the default mode the customer takes one of the two.

Open Settings › Rule Builder, click "Create rule" and create the rule "New customers" with the condition "Quantity of completed orders", the operator "Is equal to" and the value 0.
Open Marketing › Cart Rewards and click "Add reward group".
Enter "For your first order" as the name and pick the rule "New customers" under "Rule Builder rule".
Switch to the "Rewards" tab and create the two rewards with "Add reward".
Create the tea caddy with the type "Product" and the discount with the type "Discount", the discount type "Percentage" and 10. Both get €25 as the minimum cart value.

At €38.50 of goods, logged in and without a completed order yet.
No login, no group
As long as nobody is logged in, there are no orders to count and the rule does not match. The group appears as soon as the customer logs in or enters their address as a guest during checkout.
Caddy or discount
Both tiles are unlocked. In the default mode the customer takes one of them; a click on the other swaps it. The discount button names its value: "Save 10%".
The caddy is a real item
In the cart it shows at €0.00 and without a quantity field, in the order with its product number. Its stock drops by one.
A returning customer logs in
If someone who already has a completed order logs in at the cart, the rule no longer matches. The caddy disappears with this notice, the order itself goes on.
The condition reads a counter on the customer account. Shopware only counts orders with the status "Done" there and recalculates as soon as an order gains or loses this status or is deleted. This is how a new customer of Miriam's sees the group in their first weeks:
| Point in time | Quantity of completed orders | Group in the cart |
|---|---|---|
| Browsing the shop, not logged in | nothing to count | not visible |
| Logged in, or a guest with an address | 0 | visible: tea caddy or 10% |
| First order "Open" or "In progress" | 0 | still visible |
| First order set to "Done" | 1 | no longer visible |
| Completed order reopened | 0 | visible again |
And which choice pays off for the customer? At €38.50 of goods, 10% is exactly €3.85, while the tea caddy costs €6.90 in the shop. Only above €69.00 of goods is the discount worth more than the caddy. It is calculated on all purchased items, without shipping.
Two plugin settings and one field on the group. The settings apply per sales channel.
Selection mode
Technical name selectionModeValue One reward per group
Stays at the default. Caddy and discount sit in one group, so the customer gets one of the two, never both.
Automatic reward selection
Technical name autoAddValue Only the first reached reward
The tiles sit in the cart. Whoever only logs in during checkout or enters their address there as a guest does not see them. The automation then adds the reward with the lower position by itself, here the tea caddy; in the cart it can be swapped for the discount.
Rule Builder rule (group)
Card VisibilityValue New customers
On the group the rule applies to both rewards. If it does not match, the whole group is missing, and a reward already in the cart disappears with the next calculation of the cart.
The rule reads a counter that Shopware keeps on the customer account: the number of orders with the status "Done". A first order that is still open or in progress does not count; whoever orders a second time during that period sees the group again. Only when Miriam sets the first order to "Done" does the counter rise to 1, and the group is gone.
