Rewards plugin for Shopware 6 · gifts from a cart value

From 100 euros the gift is in the cart.

The plugin puts gifts, free products and discounts into the cart of Shopware 6. You decide from which cart value there is something to get and what it is: a product from your catalogue, a fixed discount or a few per cent. The customer picks their gift in the cart and sees on a progress bar how far the next tier still is.

The customer sees what they are missing.
Not only after the order.

Without the plugin

  • The gift is announced in the newsletter, nobody learns about it in the cart
  • Whoever is just below the threshold orders below it anyway
  • The warehouse adds the freebie, the stock figure is off afterwards
  • Every campaign needs a voucher code the customer has to know

With the plugin

  • The rewards are in the cart, with image, name and threshold
  • A progress bar shows the distance to the next tier, down to the cent
  • A free product is a real item: stock and sales counter move with it
  • No code needed, and a rule can restrict the campaign if you want

What Shopware does on its own. And what it does not.

Four rows from the comparison. The full table has sixteen, every one of them read in the source code of the core or measured in the demo shop.

Question Shopware 6, promotions With this plugin
Putting a product into the cart for free no – a promotion always creates an item of type "promotion", never a product item yes – a real product item at €0.00, quantity 1, not stackable, with image and product number
The customer picks the variant no yes – a select box with every active and available variant; without a choice the gift cannot be added
Several groups side by side in the cart no – promotions stand on their own, there is no group above them yes – any number of groups, each with a name, description, position and its own bar; three run side by side in the demo shop
Basis of the threshold cart total including shipping and discounts already granted goods value without the rewards: in the demo shop €495.95 of goods and €24.80 off still left €4.05 to the €500 tier

The principle

One group, any number of rewards, each with its own threshold. The cart value decides what is unlocked. The choice happens in the cart.

The plugin is set up in five steps.

Everything happens in the admin, under Marketing › Cart rewards. First a group, then the individual rewards.

The plugin configuration has eight settings, all per sales channel.

The detailed guide
  1. Create a group

Create a reward group under Marketing › Cart rewards, with a name, a description and a position.

  2. Set the visibility

Sales channel and rule are optional. Without them the group applies everywhere and to everybody.

  3. Add the rewards

Per reward pick the type: a product or a discount, plus the name the customer sees.

  4. Set the threshold

The minimum cart value belongs to each reward separately, gross and net, per currency.

  5. Check it in the shop

Open the cart, look at the bar and the tiles, then set display and automation to taste in the configuration.

Three kinds of reward: free products, percentages, amounts.

They can be mixed inside one group: the gift at the top, the discounts below, each with its own threshold.

Free product
A real product from your catalogue, in the cart at €0.00 with a fixed quantity of 1. Because it is a real item, stock goes down and the sales counter goes up.
Percentage discount
A share of the cart, for instance 5%. In the demo shop that turned €495.95 into a deduction of exactly €24.80, shown in the order with 19% tax.
Fixed discount
A fixed amount, for instance €3 from a cart value of €50. Gross and net like any Shopware price, and maintainable separately per currency.
Variants to choose from
If the gift points to a parent product, the customer picks the variant. Only what is active and available is offered.

The welcome group of the demo shop: one product and two discounts, without a minimum order value.

The threshold belongs to the reward, not to the group.

That is how a group becomes a staircase: the same group shows the small gift from €100, the bigger one from €250 and the premium gift from €500.

Any number of tiers
The bar shows every tier of the group as a dot. Reached dots are filled, the rest stay open.
The remainder is spelled out
"€4.05 to go until the next gift" is worked out by the shop itself. Once every tier is reached it says "All gifts unlocked".
Separate values per currency
The threshold is a real Shopware price field, gross and net. Nothing is converted, you set the value per currency yourself.
The basis is the goods value
Counted are all items except the rewards. So a reward discount does not lower the threshold: with €495.95 and €24.80 off, €4.05 were still missing to reach €500.

Thresholds and tiers in detail

How much may it be?

Three selection modes decide how many rewards add up. On top of that you decide whether the customer picks them or the shop adds them on its own.

One reward per group

At most one from each group, namely the one with the highest threshold reached. With several groups, several rewards add up.

One per cart value tier

Inside one group, a separate reward for every threshold reached. If three thresholds are reached, three rewards are due.

One in total

Exactly one reward for the whole cart, no matter how many groups exist and how many thresholds are reached.

The customer picks

By default nothing happens on its own. The customer clicks "Choose gift", and a click on another tile swaps the reward within the selection mode.

Or the shop adds it

Either only the first reward reached or all of them. As soon as the customer steps in, the automation pauses. Variant gifts always remain their choice.

All six modes with examples

Gifts in the cart and in the mini cart.

The selection sits above the products, below them or in the sidebar, as a slider or as a list. In the offcanvas it appears as well if you want.

How the cart processes it
Its own item, fixed quantity
The gift is in the cart with image, product number and €0.00, without a quantity field. The discount appears as an item with a negative amount.
Gone again when it no longer fits
If the goods value drops below the threshold, the reward disappears. The same applies when the rule no longer matches or the plugin is switched off.
In the order like any other item
In the test order the gift appeared as "1 x variant product (colour: blue, size: XL)" at €0.00. Afterwards the variant showed sales 1 and stock 49.
The customer may decline
Every reward can be removed in the cart. Whoever clicks it away does not get it pushed back in by the automation.

Several groups, one below the other.

Groups run side by side, and each brings its own thresholds. Three are active in the demo shop: one without a minimum, one with tiers up to €1,000 and one with discounts only. The cart shows them one below the other, each with its own bar.

Three groups, twelve rewards, eight of them unlocked. The order comes from the position field on the group.

How many of these rewards the customer may keep

What shops do with the plugin.

Six setups, each with groups, thresholds and what the customer sees in the cart.

Welcome gift

A group without a minimum order value: whoever reaches the cart may pick something right away.

Loyalty tiers

Three tiers up to €1,000, each with a more valuable gift. The bar shows the way there.

Discount tiers

Discounts only, percentage and fixed mixed, with rising thresholds from €150.

Black Friday

A campaign that runs on a few days only: the rule in the Rule Builder sets the period.

Seasonal campaign

The cooler bag in summer, the scarf in winter: one group, two periods, two rules.

Fact sheet and fit.

A good fit if …
… a product from your own catalogue should be added from a cart value, the customer may choose between several gifts, the size or colour of the gift comes from them, several staircases should run side by side, or a bar should show the way to the next tier.
Not the right thing if …
… the reward should be free shipping, the campaign should hang on a voucher code, or a plain discount from a cart value is enough. Shopware already brings everything along for all three with its promotions.

Frequently asked questions

From which cart value does a customer get a reward?

You set that per reward. The minimum cart value belongs to the individual reward, not to the group. That is why the same group can show a gift from €100, a bigger one from €250 and a premium gift from €500.

Does a free product count as a sale, and does stock go down?

Yes. A free product is a real product item. After a test order in the demo shop the gifted variant showed sales 1 and stock 49, while its sibling variant stayed at 0 and 50.

What happens when the cart drops below the threshold again?

The reward disappears. In the test a gift from €500 was in the cart; after reducing the quantity to €495.95 it was gone. The same happens when the rule no longer matches or the plugin is switched off for the sales channel.

Can a customer receive several rewards at once?

Yes, depending on the selection mode. By default there is one reward per group, so as many add up as you have groups. Alternatively there is one per tier reached, or exactly one for the entire cart.

Does a discount from a reward lower the next threshold?

No. What counts is the goods value without the rewards. In the demo shop, with €495.95 of goods and €24.80 off, €4.05 were still missing to reach the €500 tier.

Can customers choose the variant of a gift?

Yes. If the reward points to a parent product, the tile carries a select box with all active and available variants. Without a choice the gift cannot be added. You can also configure a fixed variant instead.

Does it work without the customer doing anything?

Yes. The automation adds either only the first reward reached or all of them. As soon as the customer steps in, it pauses for that group. Gifts with several variants are never added automatically.

Can a campaign be limited to one customer group?

Yes, through the Shopware Rule Builder. A rule can sit on the group and apply to every reward inside it, or on a single reward. On top of that, every group can be limited to one sales channel.

What does the plugin cost?

The extension is free and allows one reward. More rewards are an in-app purchase: Lite up to 3, Basic up to 10, Pro unlimited. The prices are in the table above, all plus VAT.

Does it work with several currencies?

Yes. The threshold is a Shopware price field and can be maintained per currency, gross and net. Nothing is converted automatically, and when the currency changes the cart re-evaluates the threshold.

Where does the selection appear in the shop?

On the cart page, either above the products, below them or in the sidebar, as a product slider or as a list. Optionally also in the offcanvas cart, above or below the items there.

Does the reward appear in the order as well?

Yes. In the test order the gift appeared as an ordinary item with 1 x and €0.00, the tax column stayed empty. The discount appeared as its own item with 19% and −€24.80.

Does the plugin run in my Shopware version?

The plugin is built for Shopware 6. Which versions exactly are supported is always stated in the store listing; digitvision keeps that figure up to date with every release.

How many reward groups may I create?

Groups are not limited. Only the total number of rewards is, through the plan you have booked.

Is this not called a reward product or a free gift?

In Shopware 5 a gifted product was called a reward product or a free product, and many people still search for it that way; others say bonus product, freebie or free gift. Shopware 6 says product for everything, which is why the entry is called a reward here and the result a free product. It all means the same thing.

Do I need a plugin for free products in Shopware 6 at all?

Not for a discount from a cart value, that is a promotion with a rule in the standard. But for a free product you do: a promotion always creates a discount item and never puts a product into the cart. That is exactly what this plugin is for.

What sets this plugin apart from other gift plugins?

The difference we can prove is the reward group: a level above the individual reward, with its own name above the tiles, its own position, its own bar and a rule that applies to every reward in it. Several groups run side by side. On top of that the customer picks the variant of the gift, and every threshold is a price field per currency.
